Career Journals
BIOCHEMIST Self Reflection:
A Biochemist is something I could see myself doing in the future. They deal with solving problems, and working in a lab, which I would love to do. Since I would like to be a radiologist, a major in biochemistry would be on the right tracks. Biochemistry as a major interests me. In fact, University of Notre Dame, my top college choice, does offer a major in this. UW-Madison does also offer a major in Biochemistry. As all health science careers, they will be in high demand in the next years. In this class, we learned about food science, some immunology, and used technology, which is very important in this field. |
ENDOCRINOLOGIST Self Reflection:
Being an endocrinologist could possibly be a career path for me to follow. I am very interested in psychology and such, making my interest along the lines of hormones. Working alongside doctors would be a benefit to this job, along with pretty regular hours. The diagnosing and solving problems is also a large part of what I would like to do. Again, the health science career is growing as a whole with the baby boomers getting older so I wouldn't be concerned with finding a job. This job would always be interesting and challenging which I would definitely enjoy. We have learned many problem solving skills in this class, along with HIPAA laws, which would become important. |
HEMATOLOGIST Self Reflection:
The job of a hematologist is to study, treat, and inform patients about blood. I would really enjoy working with people and being able to help them in order to stay healthy. Also, problem solving intrigues me and there are so many disorders and things that could go wrong in the blood. Blood vessels would also be interesting to study, as I am also interested in studying the heart. The education requirement is what I have planned on already, with a high paying salary once in a permanent job. Through PBS, I have studied the heart, and circulatory system through dissection of a mammal heart. Also, we learned how to blood type in order to identify who's blood was who's. |
